Standing atop the Citadel of Erbil, I felt the weight of seven thousand years beneath my feet. As we walked through the narrow passageways, I noticed them everywhere—hamsas. The protective hand symbol, palm facing outward, warding off evil and inviting blessings. The hamsa doesn't belong to one people --Jews, Muslims, Christians—we all trust in its protection. It's older than our differences.

I wanted to create something that honored that continuity. Blue apatite—stones the color of the sky that has watched over Erbil since the beginning—strung in a delicate strand. And at the center, a 14K solid gold hamsa, finely crafted, its palm open in eternal protection.

This necklace carries the spirit of the citadel: ancient wisdom, enduring hope, and the understanding that some symbols transcend time and borders. A reminder that we are all part of humanity's longest story—seeking light, offering protection, building home.
