Welcome Home: The Story Behind This Necklace

My proudest moment in my career was serving as Medical Director for Operation Allies Welcome in Philadelphia, where I spent months helping Afghan refugees rebuild their lives on American soil. Each day brought new families—exhausted, hopeful, carrying nothing but the courage it took to start over.

I wanted to create something that honored both their past and their future—their homeland's treasures and the new lives they were building here. For thousands of years, Afghan lapis had been prized around the world, and had given beauty to civilizations long before war came.

Suspended in 14K solid gold, this necklace represents what I witnessed: beauty rising from hardship, old and new coming together, and the unshakeable truth that home isn't a place—it's the courage to begin again.
